RMANPO History
The Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Further Professional Education "Russian Medical Academy of Continuous Professional Education" of the Ministry of Healthcare of the Russian Federation was established in 1930 as the State Moscow Institute for the Improvement and Specialization of Doctors and Healthcare Organizers.

The greatest medical scientists, who are the pride of Russian science, gave their knowledge and experience to the improvement and specialization of doctors of the Academy. First of all, it is necessary to mention teachers-academicians, scientists of worldwide reputation — these are physiologists P.K. Anokhin,V.V. Parin, pathologist A.I. Abrikosov, neurosurgeon N.N. Burdenko, ophthalmologist M.I. Averbakh. Academicians of the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences taught at the Institute: surgeons S.S. Yudin, A.V. Vishnevsky and A.A. Vishnevskiy, therapists M.S. Vovsi, B.E. Votchal, I.A. Kassirskiy,A.N. Kryukov, microbiologists Z.V. Ermolyeva, L.A. Zilber, hygienist A.N. Sysin, obstetrician-gynecologist M.S. Malinovskiy, traumatologist N.N. Priorov, biochemist V.N. Orekhovich, oncologist A.I. Savitskiy, pediatrician G.N. Speranskiy and many others.
In the early 60s of the twentieth century, the Institute became an authoritative institution for the training of scientific personnel for healthcare in many countries of Asia, Africa and Latin America. Since 1963, the Moscow International Courses of Hospital Administrators of the World Health Organization have been regularly functioning at the Institute.
In 1980, the Institute was awarded the Golden Mercury Badge of Honor for its success in improving the qualifications of doctors and international collaboration in postgraduate training of medical personnel.
In 2016, the Academy's branches included Irkutsk and Kazan State Medical Postgraduate Academies, Novokuznetsk and Penza Institutes of Advanced Medical Training. The Academy received the name "Russian Medical Academy of Continuing Professional Education" (RMANPO).
Today, the Academy is the largest federal center for additional professional and higher education of healthcare professionals in the Russian Federation.
